On the peaceful island of Sipan, we are delighted to once again feature the stunning and atmospheric Hotel Bozica. Built from local stone in luxurious style it is only 15 metres from the sea, has its own private pool with large terrace and a private platform and pebble beach. From 2017, this hotel will be available to adults only.
The 26 rooms featured by us, (of just 29 in total) are fabulous, fully air conditioned, overlooking the sea enjoying breathtaking 180 degree sea views . Located within an easy stroll to the fishing village of Sudarad, the Bozica is a haven of tranquillity. We cannot think of a more relaxing spot to enjoy the finest of holidays in Croatia. It is no surprise to us that this hotel is the first in our portfolio to become fully booked each year, enjoying as it does, superb reviews, and a Worldwide audience.
We’ve been lucky enough to work with this 4 star property since it opened for the first time in 2007 (the same year we started in business!). It is owned and run with pride by the Kristic family. Attentive service and quality are bywords. And the restaurant is so good that locals travel from the mainland to dine here.
Your unforgettable Croatia holiday will really start from the moment you are picked up by the hotel’s private minibus from Dubrovnik Airport and driven along the coastal road with its panoramic views. Then transferred at a tiny harbour at Brsecine about 6 km North of Dubrovnik to the hotel’s speedboat and whisked across to the Bozica. Given there are no traffic holdups, we confidently claim that you will be at the hotel within an hour and a half of landing. Totally seamless and an amazing experience. Your holiday really does start at the airport.
There is lift access to all non smoking rooms which are luxuriously furnished and located over just 3 floors. All benefit from air conditioning, fast internet access, satellite TV, mini bar and hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities. Beach towels are also supplied. Rooms on the first and second floor all have stunning sea views. Balcony rooms and Suites also offering a private balcony. Rooms on the third floor are cheaper, quite quirky, have exposed beams and are named ‘Starlight Rooms’ given their Velux windows face skywards – perfect for star gazing.
Ask about the two new Suites which the hotel has recently opened. One has a large lounge and small kitchenette, generous shower room with rainfall shower, and a lrge double room. All rooms have direct access to the generous outside terrace, complete with sea views.
There are also two newly built private Suites, one with kitchenette. Both with private seating area and partial sea view (due to nothing more sinister than shady trees). We think these are ideal for honeymooners or for a romantic break, tucked away out of sight, romantic, yet within easy reach of the hotels restaurant and pool area.
Without exception, great attention to detail has been taken with the furnishing of the rooms in Hotel Bozica – the colours have been chosen to promote a feeling of relaxation and well being and no expense has been spared on the linen and soft furnishings. There is a room specifically fitted which meets (and exceeds) the criteria for those guests requiring wheelchair access, lift access is also available to all floors and there is ramp access to the hotel reception and pool areas.
There is a light and bright indoor cocktail bar where clients may enjoy a drink or coffee if the sea view gets that bit too much? Guests will also find a lending library and flat screen TV in the lounge as well.
Things to do
As previously mentioned, nothing is too much trouble for your hosts who are happy to organise tailor made excursions to the nearby islands of Lopud or Kolocep or perhaps night fishing under candlelight? Scuba diving is also available. The hotel also has a small boat with an outboard engine which you can hire locally by the hour – maybe to enjoy some snorkelling off the nearby islands? There are also mountain bikes and sea kayaks available for hire.
Honeymooners have complimentary sparkling wine and fruit in their room upon arrival. For the romantic amongst you looking for the perfect spot to ‘pop the question’ how about a sunset proposal aboard a speedboat complete with champagne ? Ask us – we can pre-book this at time of your reservation and keep it a secret from the lucky recipient.
There is a public ferry which operates from the small harbour at Sudarad within 10 minutes walk of the hotel which takes just over an hour to reach Dubrovnik, the cost is approximately Euro 5 per person each way. Hotel Bozica also has its own speedboat which can offer transport to Dubrovnik Old Town so you can enjoy the delights of an evening in this romantic City.
There is a local charge for this of approximately e 35 per person each way, (dependent upon the number of takers), however, you can choose to return at any time of night ( or morning!) We recommend to get the best value from this, to liaise with either reception or with fellow guests as 4 will pay the same price as 2. Pick up times can be arranged to suit you , and the pick up point is at the Pile Gate, close to the Hilton Imperial. The hotel also offers some excellent excursions such as a day trip to Korcula, or Mljet National Park. A day’s accompanied walking around Sipan Island with English speaking guide, to name but a few.
The hotel has 10 mountain bikes available for hire to guests.
Saturday night proves popular at the Bozica with a live duo singing hits from the 70s and 80s. Well known locally, they even take requests apparently.
Apart from the renowned a la carte restaurant, there is an aperitif and snack bar at the pool. Whilst we would normally shy away from recommending half board, we are confident to do so here. Resident chef Mate Kristic is an incredible talent and produces stunning food of an exceptional quality using fish which is caught freshly every day; fruit and vegetables grown in the hotels’ own organic garden, as well as their own olive oil. Unusually for Croatia, there is an excellent variety of vegetarian menu options. The restaurant also operates a no smoking policy.
The half board option offers the same menu as the a la carte menu – just with less choice in number of dishes.
To avoid disappointment, we genuinely recommend booking early, particularly for peak season – with only 26 Sea View rooms, they fill up fast, we have some guests who book for their next holiday as soon as they return from their last. So popular is this hotel now, that we have already taken several bookings for Summer 2017.
There are 5 other restaurants in the village and another 8 on the other side of the island at Sipanska Luka. We are more than confident in recommending this beautiful boutique hotel to anyone considering a return or a first time holiday to Croatia.
The hotel is not only beautifully furnished inside, but has some of the best outside space we’ve ever seen. There is so much space to spread out and enjoy yourself in privacy. Enjoy a gentle island breeze under a parasol next to the pool, or recline on a sunbed on the private beach. From all points you can watch the comings and goings of the little boats. Or take a swim in the warm clear sea water.
Dubrovnik Island Holidays says:- one of our most popular hotels, we have worked with the Kristic family since the hotel first opened and are delighted to continue our long and fruitful partnership which ultimately benefits our clients immensely ! We are lucky enough to receive a very high number of repeat holidaymakers to this property.
